Make Objects Disappear with your iPhone (part 1)

The iPhone has some cool tools built in to it. These two images are the same, but the person has been removed with a simple edit, unsing the built-in iPhone editor

This image was taken on a hike, on Liffy Island in Jefferson NJ. My wife was walking ahead of me and this is the version I prefer because we are doing it together. and she brings a perspective to the photo which would not other wise be there.

However, if you are looking to get a pure landscape, the second image might be preferable. The iPhone built-in editor (at least the one in IOS 18.5) enables easy removal of a person (or any other object). AI is used to identify the object, remove it, and then generate a new background.

Here are the simple steps to get from the first to the second photo. To start, select the photo you want to edit in the Photos app Library.

Choose the EDIT icon at the bottom of the screen.  That's the one with 3 horizontal lines with little circles on the lines next to the trash can.

Next, select the "Clean Up' tool on the right side of the new bottom menu.

This will generate a moving hand underneath the image and you can then draw (with your finger) a circle around the object you want to remove.

And that's it! The object is removed! If the iPhone doesn't quite select the right object or you don't like the newly generated replacement, try again with a different zoom or another hand drawn selection.
